Auction
Silent Auction:
- Format: In a silent auction, bidders write down their bids on a sheet of paper or enter them electronically without any verbal interaction. For Checkpoint Celebrates! 2024, the silent auction bids will be placed electronically via this website.
- Process: Bidders place their bids anonymously and are able to see the current highest bid. They may continue to update their bid until the auction closes.
- Duration: Silent auctions usually last over an extended period, often several hours or even days. This allows bidders to place and adjust their bids at their convenience.
- Bidder Interaction: There is minimal interaction among bidders, as bids are placed quietly and anonymously.
Live Auction:
- Format: In a live auction, an auctioneer leads the bidding process, and participants verbally place their bids in real time. For Checkpoint Celebrates! 2024, the live auction will take place within a specific period of time during the Gala Dinner.
- Process: The auctioneer calls out the bids, and participants raise their paddles or otherwise signal to indicate their bids. The process continues until the highest bid is reached and the auctioneer declares the item sold.
- Duration: Live auctions typically take place within a shorter, defined period, often a few minutes per item, as the auctioneer moves quickly through the lots.
- Bidder Interaction: There is a high level of interaction among bidders, as they can see and hear each other’s bids, contributing to the competitive atmosphere.
To place a bid, log into your account, navigate to the item you want, and enter your bid amount in the designated field.
Generally, bids cannot be retracted once placed. However, if you make a mistake, contact us via email immediately at [email protected].
